BH Airlines Begins Flights between the Capitals of Bosnia, Montenegro and Macedonia

BalkanTravellers.com

18 June 2009 | The flag carrier of Bosnia and Herzegovina, BH Airlines, began servicing a new flight route between Sarajevo, Podgorica and Skopje.

Flights between the three capitals will be carried out every Wednesday and Friday.

The connection between Skopje and Podgorica is a continuation of the flight route between Sarajevo and Podgorica and it was opened as a result of the initiative by the Macedonian embassy in Montenegro for the establishment of an air connection between the two countries, the Macedonian Foreign Ministry told the Vecher newspaper.

BH Airlines, which was established in 1994, currently operates regular flights from Bosnia’s capital to several destinations in Western Europe and a few in the Balkans, including Banja Luka, Mostar and Istanbul. According to its official website, its plan for 2009 is to open regular lines from Sarajevo to Belgrade and Zagreb, while it also carries out charter flights to Bodrum and Antalya in Turkey.

The new BH Airlines’ flight route contributes to the better connectedness of the region’s cities. Direct air connections between the Balkans’ capitals and other large cities are still sparse and many passengers end up having to fly through Central or Western Europe Europe in order to get from one Balkans city to another.
