BalkanTravellers.com
The trans-border project for the creation of the yacht complex, which also includes the construction of a hotel, resulted from the cooperation between the Bulgarian Dolna Mitropolya municipality and the town of Corabia located in Romania’s Olt County.
Local authorities hope that, upon the completion of the complex, it will attract tourists from all the countries located along the Danube, the Standart newspaper reported today.
Agreements for the development of rural and eco-tourism have already been signed between the two countries. A ship has been sailing along the route between Baykal and Corabia for the past two years, Licho Tonchev, Director of the Special Administration Directorate in the Dolna Mitropolya municipality told the publication.
Another planned initiative is the creation of tourist zones around the Roman and Byzatine town Colonia Ulpia Oescus, located to the north of the Bulgarian town of Pleven, and in the Corabia municipality.
In addition, the two Danube islands with a total area of 400 hectares opposite the village of Baykal are deemed suitable for developing hunting and fishing tourism.
