Biggest Shopping Mall in Romania Opens this Month

4 February 2010 | The Austrian real estate investment company Sparkassen Immobilien and the Romanian EMCT announced that the biggest shopping centre in Romania – Sun Plaza, will open on February 25.

The shopping mall, which has been constructed over 210,000 square metres of which 80,000 are to be rented out, is located in the southern part of Bucharest, the Mediafax news agency reported today.

The completion of the project, in which 200 million euro have been invested, has been postponed several times since the initially set date for its opening in 2008, the media reported.

Built by the EMCT company with investments by Sparkassen Immobilien, the trade centre – connected to a metro line, will boast 150 stores and 2,000 parking spaces.

According to earlier statements by the two companies’ representatives, 90 per cent of the stores in the complex have already been rented out.
