BalkanTravellers.com

8 February 2010 | The arrival of Hungarian low cost airline Wizz Air to Serbia, which will begin operating flight from Belgrade to London and Dortmund this summer, will make Serbia’s capital more visible within the European tourist market, government officials said at a press conference today.

State Secretary for Tourism of the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development, Goran Petkovic, said he hoped that the low coast flights from London and Dortmund will bring visitors to Belgrade and that Serbian tourism will feel the effects of that partnership.

A one-way ticket from Belgrade to Dortmund will cost 24.99 euro, including all airport taxes, while a one-way ticket to London, with all taxes included, will cost 34.99 euro, Wizz Air commercial director Gyorgy Abran said. In London, Wizz Air flights from Belgrade will be landing at Luton airport, which has good bus and railway services to the city centre.

According to Velimir Radosavljevic, General Director of the public company Nikola Tesla Airport, the Belgrade airport has been announcing the arrival of new airlines to Serbia almost on a monthly basis. Its aim, Radosavljevic added, is to open a real competitive market environment, making air travel more available to Serbian citizens and bringing Serbia closer to the European family of nations.
