Air and Rail Traffic Interruptions in Greece and Romania

BalkanTravellers.com

9 February 2010 | Planned strikes and the bad weather are causing interruptions in air and rail traffic in Greece and Romania, respectively.

Greece’s largest airline, Aegean Airlines, has announced it will cancel all of its flights on Wednesday because of the planned strike by the air traffic controllers.

Greek air space, according to the Focus Information Agency, will remain closed for 24 hours between midnight and 11:59 on February 10.

At the same time, the bad weather conditions are causing delays and annulments in rail transportation. For a second day in a row, 40 train routes were cancelled.

The Romanian CFR Calatori rail company, cited by the media, announced that some trains are continuing along their routes but the blizzards and heavy snowfall yesterday caused delays between 30 minutes and one hour.
