In Turkey, Germans Buy Property in Antalya and Brits in Mugla

Balkan Travellers

7 April 2008 | The German citizens who buy property in Turkey prefer the Antalya Province, while British nationals are the largest group of foreigners favour real estate in the Mugla Province, national media reported.

In Antalya, out of the total of 3.8 million square metres purchased by foreigners, 1.2 belong to Germans, the Anatolian Agency reported. Meanwhile, in the neighbouring Mugla Province, Brits own 2.6 million square metres of land out of the total of 4.4 million owned by foreign nationals.

The Antalya Province, located on Turkey’s Mediterranean coast in the south-western part of the country, is the most popular Turkish destinations for foreign tourists. Beside its beaches, the region is rich with ancient archaeological and natural sites that appeal to both tourists and foreign property owners.

The Mugla Province, just to the north-west of Antalya, is located on Aegean Sea. It boasts some of Turkey's largest holiday resorts, such as Bodrum, Marmaris and Fethiye.

Traditionally, Western Europeans have been known to purchase property in Greece as well as Turkey, but – as BalkanTravellers.com reported, an increasing number of foreign buyers are turning their attention slightly more westward, as Bulgaria and Albania have become attractive real estate destinations.
