Bulgaria, Cyprus and Greece to Have 12 IKEA Stores by 2013

Those are the plans of the Greek company Fourlis, which holds the rights of the chain store, according to the Kathimerini newspaper. It noted that currently work on opening three additional stores – in Greece and abroad, is underway.
The existing IKEA stores in Athens and Thessaloniki will soon be joined by branches in Ioannina and Larissa in Greece and Sofia in Bulgaria.
As BalkanTravellers.com reported, Fourlis announced it had purchased a plot near Sofia where it was starting construction of the store in February. To the delight of many Bulgarians, who now frequent the IKEA branch in Thessaloniki, the first branch is expected to open by 2009, with three more outlets planned for Bulgaria by 2011.
