Macedonia Intends to Develop Rural Tourism

2 July 2008 | Macedonia intends to utilize its natural resources in order to develop urban tourism, national media reported.

The country hopes to attract visitors for rural and hunting tourism, according to a recent report by the A1 television, and use the Macedonian villages’ architecture, nature and traditional cuisine as attractions.

The plans, according to the report, come after Bulgaria’s experience with the development of urban tourism was seen as successful.

“Foreign tourists have a high interest towards rural tourism, where they could try traditional meals and be close to nature,” Kristian Delev, state secretary in Macedonia’s agricultural ministry told media.
