Flow of Tourists from Kosovo to Albania Increases

BalkanTravellers.com

14 July 2008 | The number of tourists from Kosovo who head to Albania to spend their holidays is constantly increasing, Albanian media reported today.

According to customs’ officials data, cited by the Gazeta Shqiptare newspaper, 7,000 people have entered Albania only though the Morina border crossing point. The publication carried accounts by travellers who said they have had no problem in going over the border and that customs officials are actively trying to facilitate their crossing.

Despite the fact that parts of the road between Morina and Kalimash, which is a segment of the Durrës-Kukës highway, is under repair and travelling is more difficult, the publication reported that the Kosovar tourists were not complaining and were happy to be able to spend their holidays on Albania’s coast.

Reportedly, Kosovars appreciated the importance of the realisation of the project of the Durrës-Kukës highway, linking Albania to Kosovo, which is why they did not mind the temporary inconveniences caused by its construction.
