Montenegro’s Tourism Income Increases, to Reach 540 Million Euro by End of 2008

14 October 2008 | Montenegro cashed in 471 million euro from tourism for the first nine months of the year, which is 8.8 per cent more than for the same period last year.

The number of tourists who went to the country in 2008 also grew – by 5.4 per cent , according to the Bulgarian business news website, expert.bg.

By the end of the year, it is expected that Monenegro’s income from tourism will reach 540 million euro, the Tourism Minister, Predrag Nenezić, told media.

Montenegro’s decision to recognise Kosovo’s independence will not affect the country’s tourist industry in any way, Nenezić added.

At the same time, the Serbian government announced that they will not introduce any kind of economic sanctions or restrictions for Montenegro and Macedonia, both of which recognised Kosovo’s independence on October 9.
