Fog Blocks Road and Sea Traffic in Romania and Turkey
BalkanTravellers.com
The fog in Romania was causing disruption of traffic along motorways and some county roads in Ilfov, Brăila, Suceava and Prahova, where visibility is at 50 metres, the ziare.com news website reported.
According to today’s weather forecasts, there will be fog in the southern, eastern and central parts of the country. Romanian police recommends driving with a low speed, avoiding overtaking and keeping a bigger distance between cars.
Fog also caused the Strait of Çanakkale, which passes between the European and Asian part of the Çanakkale province, to close for ships. According to the Zaman newspaper, the thick fog caused visibility to drop to under 200 metres and interrupted the passing of transit ships in both directions through the strait.
The ferry routes Çanakkale – Eceabat and Gelibolu – Lapseki have also been halted.
