Turkey’s Tourism Revenue Increases by 14.4%

31 October 2008 | Turkey’s revenue from tourism during the third trimester of the year reached 9.998 billion US dollars (around 15.732 billion euro), which is a 14.4 per cent increase compared to the same period of 2007, according to data by Turkey’s statistics committee.

The revenue from individual tourists, according to data published by the ANKA information agency, amounted to 7.903 billion US dollars (around 6.217 billion euro), while organised tourist groups contributed 2.085 billion US dollars (around 1.640 billion euro).

From the three-month period, the highest revenue was registered in August (3.995  billion US dollars, or around 3.143 billion euro), followed by July (3.054 billion US dollars, or around 2.402 billion euro) and then September – 2.939 billion US dollars (around 2.312 billion euro).

In the period between July and September, a foreign tourist to Turkey spend 665 US dollars (around 532 euro) on average, while a local tourist spent 202 US dollars (around 159 euro) on average.
