Halo Infinite Season 4 includes Infection Mode, and it will be released next month

Brace yourself, Spartans – Infection mode is finally coming to Halo Infinite.

343 Industries announced the “return of the infection in Season 4” via a simple tweet posted on the official Halo social media channels. The battle for survival begins on June 20th.

Infection — a PvP zombie mode that sees infected Spartans seek out and infect healthy companions — has long been a Spartan staple but was noticeably missing from Infinite when it launched in 2021.

Microsoft recently promised more “consistency” with Halo Infinite seasonal updates, as its third season began back in March. Season 4 is set to launch next month along with a new progression system and the highly anticipated Infection mode.

Veteran Halo developer Frank O’Connor recently left Microsoft, the latest in a long line of high-profile exits from 343 Industries, including Halo Infinite multiplayer creative director Tom French and former Halo director Joseph Staten, who joined Netflix to start the business. Other recent departures include David Berger, who served as lead developer of Infinite’s ambitious sleepspace engine technology, and 343 president Bonnie Ross, who has announced her departure from the company after 15 years.

343 Industries has since issued a brief statement in an effort to quell concerns about Microsoft’s flagship franchise, Halo, stating that Halo and Master Chief are “here to stay” and that the 343i team “will continue to develop Halo now and in the future”.
