Both parents’ agreement is now required to vaccinate children between the ages of 5 and 11

Only children between the ages of 5 and 11 are affected by this obligation.

The Ministry of Health said on Thursday that not only the consent of both parents but also the consent of both parents is required to vaccinate children between the ages of 5 and 11 against Govt-19.

“From now on (…) both parents’ agreement is required to vaccinate children,” a ministry spokesman told reporters.

The ministry later clarified to our colleagues at AFP that only children between the ages of 5 and 11 are concerned. For children between the ages of 12 and 15, the consent of one parent is consistently sufficient. Finally, adolescents 16 years of age and older can be vaccinated without parental consent.

First 67,000 children were vaccinated

Of course, a child between the ages of 5 and 11 can only be a parent at the time of vaccination appointment, but the second parent must provide him or her with a certificate of honor, the ministry said. According to him, this new arrangement follows the request of the State Council.

The vaccine was opened on December 22 to all 5-11 year olds. As of January 4, at least 67,000 children under this age have been vaccinated.

“This number may seem even lower, but it is growing well,” he said, adding that Wednesday was “the biggest day of the campaign for children” with more than 17,000 vaccines estimated at the ministry. “The vaccination campaign for 5-11 year olds has been launched and it should continue quietly. Recent statistics suggest that we are entering a good movement,” we commented from the same source.

Low-dose Pfizer vaccine for this age group

According to the ministry, more than 400 centers now provide vaccines for children, up from 100 at the time of opening for this age group.

“The goal is to rapidly expand the number of these centers,” the same source said.

Vaccination of 5-11 year olds is done with the Pfizer vaccine, but is suitable for this age (3 times less). France has received 1.9 million doses, and will receive an additional one million in January, with a total of more than 6 million by the end of February.

In addition, the Ministry changed the time between the first two injections of the vaccine for children. If the 21-day interval is “optimal”, an appointment can now be made 18 to 24 days between the first and second dose.
