A rivalry between the two generals has erupted, with paramilitary forces claiming control of the presidential palace in Khartoum.

Tensions persisted for weeks. The rivalry between the two generals after the October 2021 takeover of Sudan erupted in Khartoum on Saturday, April 15, with the sound of explosions and clashes. On Saturday, the political conflict won out in the streets: in several districts of Khartoum, almost non-stop gunfire and explosions shook residents of the country, long torn by war and banned from the country for years. Witnesses reported fighting near General Burhan’s residence in Khartoum, where no one dared to venture, without any independent source physically able to go there to testify. Both parties claim responsibility for the outbreak of the fire.

“A dangerous and historic turning point”

The FSRs said to themselves “Surprised in the morning by the arrival of a large body of troops who besieged their camp at Sopa”.
