Let’s talk about Uncle Hody

Bray Wyatt is back Smackdown Last night (October 28). He’s closed the show, and it’s the third time he’s done so since then Back in that spot in Strict rules.

The former WWE and Universal Champion spoke again about his issues. Wyatt’s emotional and mental health has been a topic throughout his comeback, and this promo was built on the psychological profile that was one of the Easter eggs last Friday. Bray feels either too much or too little, and that has taken him to some dark places and led him to do some terrible things. But he has gone on to describe what we see now as the best version of him, even though he will likely do horrible things again in the future.

It was mostly a summary of what he said in his other two books recent boredom, delivered in distinctive Windham Rotunda style with a charismatic feel. What we got the most from this time was the character who was cutting and responding to Bray…a character we can now officially name Uncle Hoody.

Howdy is someone who wears a rather rough mask *looks like he sometimes wears another mask (which is very similar to the one we saw in Philadelphia last month when he came back). In another callback to A Modern hidden guideHe refers to himself as “the ghost of the man who sold the world”. And though White appears to be “the man who sold the world”, that makes the ghost of Howdy Bray, I guess?

The point here is that White is a liar. He claims to be showing us his true self without any masks, but Howdy says he still wears one. What Bray calls the best version of himself, he says “uncle” is just a coincidence of his former greatness – most likely because White sent him away (the screen flashes quickly to what looks like The Fiend as Howdy delivers that line).

Our latest QR code supports Howdy’s claims. He. She take us to This photo reminds us of something The Riddler sent to one of his targets in Matt Reeves’ Batman

And the image’s source code frighteningly announces that the person responsible can “see” the real White under the mask of normalcy.

Whether the character was eventually played by someone else or not, it’s still very clear to me that Windham Rotunda is providing the voiceover at this point, and that at least the initial program for the latest WWE release for Bray Wyatt will be enmity with oneself. How to get there anyone’s guess at this point.

Guessing comes fast and furious of course. Many of them have something to do with the real Rotunda family. Many people have pointed out Howdy’s mask’s similarity to Bray’s uncle of the same name, Barry Windham:

And some believe that the fact that we could see a cross-eyelet on Uncle Hody was a deliberate inconvenience to Bray. He’s supposed to come back Brother, Bo Dallas:

There can only be one floating theory Signature rumored Vincent and Dutch Playing characters aligned with Uncle Hody who want Bray to fall back into his sinister ways, with Bo & Barry Windham appearing as Not yet revealed Uncle HarperHer soldiers are at war for Wyatt’s soul.

Which is understandably fed up by critics and others after the way WWE has presented Bray’s ideas in the past pointingIt could be a big mess! But we also don’t know where anything will go a month into this race. And for people who dig into that kind of immersive storytelling and/or are just fascinated by trying to do something different from a traditional wrestling angle, this is pretty cool. In addition, Wyatt did not insinuate that Intervenes with nothing else Smackdownso if it doesn’t work for you, it will still be easy to skip.

So, if you’re interested in it, give us your guesses! If you aren’t, enjoy what would seem to be Wyatt-free crown jewel!

* Made me think of this drawing Nice Tim Robinson I think you should leave. Which really kills the sense of vitality that Bray & Company is striving for on the one hand. But on the other hand, I could see Uncle Hody saying desperately “We’ve done so much… I don’t even want to be around anymore.”
