Apple is testing two desktop Macs with the M2 Max and M2 Ultra chipsets, according to bloombergMark Gorman. The M2 Max chip debuted in January with the launch of the 2023 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, but the M2 Ultra chip is new and will succeed the M1 Ultra chip that Apple uses in Mac Studio.
Gurman doesn’t know which specific Macs will have the chips, but the machines are marked “Mac 14,13” and “Mac 14,14” internally. Previous rumors suggested that a revamped Apple silicon Mac Pro might include a M2 Ultra chip, and Apple’s Mac Pro is rated “14.8” internally, so now the desktops in testing are probably something Another, and possibly new versions of “Mac Studio”. Apple is also working on new iMacs, but they are expected to feature the M3 chipset.

Apple is testing these new Macs right before WWDC, and Gurman says he expects to introduce several Macs at the event.
