11:45 pm: Mystery surrounding Russian Defense Minister
Sergei Shoy has not been seen in public since March 11, and speculation has spread that he may be ill or in prison, paying the price for a failed invasion. On Thursday, the Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told Shoi that he was “too busy” to do more important things than hold press conferences.
But in the process, the Kremlin released a short video of a security adviser via video conference. Unusually, there was no sound in the video, and with a visual error, the minister appeared briefly in a small box at the top left of the screen. To make matters worse, he is wearing the same jacket and tie as in the March 11 video. If some guess the old clip embedded today, there is nothing to confirm it immediately. The mystery continues.
