Fox News Poll: US Pride Has Fallen Significantly

National pride fell, with The majority of Republicans and independents And nearly half of Democrats feel unhappy with their country, according to the latest Fox News poll.

The poll, released Thursday, asks registered voters “are you proud of the country today,” with just 39% saying “yes.” This is 12 points lower than in June 2017 (the last time the question was asked) and 30 points since June 2011.

While the question has only been asked four times, this is the first time I’ve asked Most are disappointed in the country: 56% are not proud, up from 45% in 2017 and 28% in 2011.

Independents and Republicans have reversed their positions since 2017, while previously they were ‘unproud’. The Democrats are now on the fence.

In 2017, Republicans (by a margin of 31 points) and Independents (4 points) were proud. Today, both groups are disappointed with the country, the Republican Party with 24 points and the Independents with 35 points.

Democrats were 17 points more likely to disappoint the country in 2017, while they are now split: 46% are proud and 48% are not.

The men also reversed their positions. They were more likely in 2017 to be proud of 22 points, whereas now they are not so proud of 14. Women were dissatisfied in 2017 and still are today, but by a much wider margin, they weren’t proud at 9 points five years ago versus 21 points today.

Black voters remain in the “I’m Not Proud” column, although the margin has shrunk: from 28 points five years ago to a 9-point margin today.

This Fox News poll was conducted June 10–13, 2022 under the joint supervision of Beacon Research (D) and Shaw & Company Research (R), and includes interviews with 1,002 registered voters nationwide who were randomly selected from a national voter profile and who spoke Live with interviews on both landlines and cell phones. The total sample has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus three percentage points.
