The new Instagram test will make the app look more like TikTok. to me Take CrunchInstagram is experimenting with full-screen vertical home feeds. When they open the Instagram app, users immediately see vertical content that aims to “make the video front and center.” Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram confirmed the audition at video Posted on Twitter, saying that longer photos and videos will start appearing in some feeds.

The photo shared by Instagram shows a main feed captured by a full-screen post with comments, captions, likes, and other features placed at the top of the post rather than below. Although there is no Stories bar at the top of the screen in the image, Meta spokesperson Seine Kim says this view shows the homepage feed once users start scrolling and Stories will still be accessible at the top of the screen. The search, reels, shopping and user profile can still be accessed via the buttons at the bottom of the screen. New notifications, messages, and posting features stay on top, along with the ability to switch between accounts.

Kim says that still images and video posts will also be integrated into the full-screen feed.
