Kendrick Perkins calls out again Draymond Green. But this time, it has nothing to do with the Warriors striker’s playing ability.
Instead, Perkins took offense to Green’s latest comments In defense of his teammate Steve Curry.
During Monday’s episode of “The Draymond Green Show,” Green said Curry had yet to win the NBA Finals MVP Cup because he had collaborated twice “seven times” more than Former teammate Kevin Durant During the last two Golden State titles.
“If you were able to analyze a game, under no circumstances would you say that Steve Curry needed the best player in the Finals to verify his identity,” Green said in his podcast.
Perkins, the 2008 NBA champion turned analyst, called Greene’s comments “weird” during a long, tumultuous Tuesday on ESPN’s “NBA Today.”
“I’m so confused, because no one questioned the greatness of Steve Curry,” Perkins said. “So, for Draymond to say this is weird to me. No one has ever said that before [Curry] He needed to win the MVP award at the finals to establish his greatness. …they were saying that the best player in the finals would boost it up and put it in a different conversation, which it will.
“If you go down the streak and give me your top 10 players of all-time, they all have the best player in the finals. That’s all we say. In my opinion, I got Steph Curry at number 12. For Draymond for creating this everyone-say-Steph Curry novel, The generational talent, the man who changed the game forever – sits here and says he needs the best player in the finals to put a stamp on his legacy? Nobody says that.”
Greene’s comments prompted a reaction not only from Perkins but also from Durant, who said his former Oklahoma City Thunder teammate’s assessment of Curry’s coverage was “100% wrong” in a tweet. An exchange between the two NBA stars ensued, and ended with Durant telling Green, “I love the show.”
