Bulgaria Air/Hemus Air Offer “Wholesale” Balkan Destinations

Balkan Travellers

28 January 2008 | The Bulgarian national carrier Bulgaria Air and the country’s second largest airline Hemus Air launched a “Balkans” campaign.

Until March 29, 2008, they will sell return flights from Sofia to Athens, Bucharest, Istanbul, Skopje and Tirana for 99 euro, excluding airport taxes. Passengers have to buy at least five tickets in order to get the reduced rates.

The airline has no minimal stay requirement but the maximum stay is 14 days and the tickets are valid for three months after their date of issue.

After Hemus Air, which has traditional interests in the region, bought the national carrier Bulgaria Air, the consortium is now trying to establish a strong position on the Balkans, where few local companies operate flights between the capital cities.

Sofia is connected to Belgrade, Zagreb and Sarajevo mainly though the near Central European cities and these destinations are served mostly by the Austrian Airlines and the Hungarian carrier Malev.
