At the end of last year, Square Enix announced that its racing title Chocobo GP would not receive “any more large-scale updates” and that it would stop selling paid-for currency Mythril in January 2023, allowing players to spend real money to unlock additional content.

Now, in the latest development, the US eShop listing for the Chocobo GP has been updated with a “release date” June 15, 2023 (This past week). So what is going on here? Well, it appears to be related to the Chocobo GP “Lite”, which was recently delisted. Users who have this free version will now be required to upgrade to the full game for $49.99 / £39.99 The data will be transferred and saved across.

And just in case you missed it, apparently all of the paid content in the game can now be unlocked using Tickets and Gil coins – with no Mythril in sight.

Nintendo Life has revisited the latest version of Final Fantasy Racer (1.4.1 – released Feb 2023) and can confirm that you are now able to unlock characters like Cloud Strife without having to worry about buying a Season Pass or buying anything real. money. Alternatively, you can get it with 50 tickets.

Other characters, items and unlocks are also available with Tickets and Gil. These two currencies can be obtained by clearing missions and leveling up across multiple modes in Chocobo GP. As you can see in the screenshot, the entire Mythril Shop has been removed, with only the Ticket and Gil Shop remaining:
