Russia on Saturday claimed that long-range weapons recently supplied to Ukraine by the US shot down four ATACMS missiles overnight. “Air Defense Shoots Down Four Operational-Tactical Missiles Along Crimean Peninsula Border”It joined Russia in 2014, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement. Moscow did not say whether the missiles or the debris that fell from them caused the damage.
In April, Washington announced that it had sent these missiles to Ukraine, which it had long requested to attack more behind the front lines. Kyiv used US ATACMS missiles against Russia for the first time in October, but recent deployments have a longer range of up to 300 km.
Ukraine has sought to gain access to Russian supply routes, warehouses or military headquarters in order to further attack it from the front lines, however, promising that this new supply will not change anything in the conflict.
